In 2012 the Kyoto Protocol runs out. To keep the process of climate policy on the line there is an urgent need for a new climate protocol. At the conference in Copenhagen (December 2009), the parties of the UNFCCC meet for the last time on government level before the climate agreement needs to be renewed.
The next major round of negotiations on the way to Copenhagen will be held at an ad-hoc working group (AWG), between 29 March and 8 April in Bonn, Germany.
YES-DC as an NGO holds an observer registration which entitles us to delegate a group of our members. We plan to go to Bonn and witness the UNFCCC negotiation process first hand. The idea is to leave for Bonn on Friday 3 April (early), attend meetings and side-events, have some beers and return home late the next day. On saturday we can also join several meetings and workshops. Expect costs to be around € 100 pp (incl. travel, hostel, food and drinks).
PS More information on the agenda and side-events can be found via www.unfccc.int
